Patty Aalbersberg

On canvas I combine my love for texture and my fascination for the strength, vulnerability and beauty of the human body. Using many different materials I create what I call a skin on my canvas before I start painting. I need that rough, earthy surface and the colours I  intuitively use to become motivated and excited about what I’ll be creating, which subject (model) I’ll use. By combining abstract and figurative elements I’m able to create a distinctive atmosphere, often sensual and calm, sometimes more animated.
